City of Omaha Public Works – Omaha, Nebraska Electrical construction documents for alternate power sources four (4) sewage lift stations along the Missouri River to prevent overflow into the river during power outages. Required by the Nebraska EPA. Power factor study and correction at the Missouri River Wastewater Treatment Plant. Construction specifications for power-factor correcting capacitors were prepared and new capacitors installed on the sewage transfer lift pumps to improve measured power factor. Electrical construction documents for addition of a 500 hp sewage transfer lift pump at the Missouri River Wastewater Treatment Plant. The pump is controlled by a 480 V variable frequency drive interfaced into the existing speed control system. Inspection and evaluation of approximately one mile of overhead insulated power line and associated pole-top hardware.
Jacobson-Helgoth Consultants – Omaha, Nebraska Prepared mechanical and electrical construction documents to support the installation of a new anaerobic digester system using SBR technology at the Village of Murray, Nebraska, waste water treatment plant.
Nebraska Public Power District – Columbus, Nebraska Prepared drawings and design change documentation for additions and revisions to 167 process variable loops in the Plant Management Information System (PMIS) at the Cooper Station. The Steam Leak Detection system display was replaced to provide instrument signals to be added to the PMIS. Other selected process variables and status of valves were also added to the PMIS. Over 100 existing process variable signals were upgraded to improve signal resolution. Prepared drawings and design change documentation for replacement of the electro-hydraulic speed control system for two 8800 hp steam turbine-driven reactor feedwater pumps at the Cooper Station. The original electro-hydraulic speed control system was replaced with a digital computer controlled speed control system with a pneumatic operator for the steam control valves. Provided electrical engineering services to perform a voltage drop study at the Cooper Station for a complete plant distribution system to determine optimum transformer tap settings for three station service and nine distribution transformers under seven different plant operating conditions. Based on original installation data for cable sizes and lengths, bus duct drawings, transformer test data and load measurements on seven 4160 V buses, six 480 V buses and 36 460 V motor control centers, an electrical model was constructed for the distribution system.
Offutt Welcome Center – Bellevue, Nebraska KPE provided engineering services for new $3.5 million dollar facility, which serves as the new Offutt Welcome Center and Bellevue Public Schools District Administrative Offices. Project included geothermal heat pump systems and energy recovery ventilators equipped with dehumidification systems, and plumbing system design.
Omaha Public Power District – Omaha, Nebraska Provided electrical engineering services to update the Fort Calhoun Station battery load profile for both station batteries to reflect the as built configuration resulting from changes made in an estimated 60 station modifications. The station battery load profile consisted of calculations to determine the actual dc load requirements over an eight-hour station blackout.
